Maori Hymns (Himene) Old and New
Many years ago a booklet containing 55 Maori hymns was published in New Zealand - 'Himene Maori: Tawhito, Hou'. A pdf scan is available for viewing and download below.
Nearly 20% of the New Zealand population identify as having part-Maori heritage, and Maori is one of the official languages In New Zealand. In the 1950s there were some Maori friends who only spoke Maori.
Isabel Honeycombe was a worker from 1938 to 1997. As she was part-Maori and fluent in Maori language, she led a mission dedicated to Maori from 1953 to 1955.
The Index of Maori hymns below provides the titles of relevant English 'Hymns Old & New'. The Maori hymns are not direct translations, but were inspired by the English precedents. Hymn #5 appears to be a new composition. Authors are not known.
Audio is available at the blue links for five of the hymns.
